McCabe Oil Column, Type 1

Needing an oil column, John McCabe checked with the manufacturers. But being a cheapskate, he was not impressed with their high pricing.

Visiting several class one rail yards, he snapped a few photos, and when returning home, gave them to his shop foreman. In less than a week, he had cobbled together two different columns to use in the McCabe Engine Facility. Granted, some of the fancy features of the ones used on the main roads were missing, but the foreman decided they were not really needed.

The shop foreman made the two different due to not having enough of the same parts to make them identical. Cost to McCabe was small, and the foreman got a bonus.

The kit consists of styrene column components and laser-cut wood & taskboard for the base. The column pivots. The oil column has a footprint of a scale 16' x 6.5'.
